ROUTE:
Ulaanbaatar – Ikh Nart Natural Reserves – Ikh Gazriin Chuluu – Bayanzag –
Eagle Valley – Bogd mountain – Khongoriin sand dunes – Dalanzadgad -Ulaanbaatar

SEASON/DATE:  May-October

Day 1
Upon arrival in Mongolia’s capital city, Ulaanbaatar, you are transferred to the hotel. In the afternoon we have a leisurely program of sightseeing including the Gandan Monastery - the centre of Buddhist Religion in Mongolia and to the Natural History Museum to view a variety of fossils from animals and dinosaurs living up to 70 million years ago.  Dinner and overnight will be at the hotel.

Day 2
In the morning, we drive to Ikh Nart Natural Reserves and make our tented camp in the place called Burgasnii AmIkh Nart Natural Reserves belongs to semi desert natural zone and it is small rocky mountain situated in shallow depression. The Ikh Nart is elevated at 1200 m above sea level.

Day 3-5
Today we organize excursion in the area of Ikh Nart Natural Reserves observing followings wild animals:

-   research excursion of observing hoofed animals including argali, ibex, white-tailed gazelle. Observation research is usually done by walking. It is possible to use horse and camel as well. During excursion, we find out the location of wild animals using radio telemetry and collect some data on movement, activation of wild animals on which radio telemetry were hanged in previous years.

-   research excursion of observing small mammals. It is necessary to make research at night and before dawn

-   research excursion of observing reptiles. On whole day, we observe and make research by walking on chosen area.

-   research excursion of flora. According to the leader’s instruction and suggestion, we have excursion in the chosen area collecting some data related to flora research.

Day 6
Today we continue our trip to Ikh Gazriin Chuluu where we make our tented camp. In the afternoon, we rest and we have short excursion walking in the surrounding area to get introduced with this area. Ikh Gazriin Chuluu is located in the great granite zone. It is very beautiful area conclude many splendid sheer mountains formed by granite. Wind, rain, sun into bizarre shapes have eroded thus creating wonderful interesting formation. Here there are numerous caves. We explore some of the caves.

Day 7
Early in the morning, we drive to Bayanzag in South Gobi province, where we make our tented camp. In 1920’s expedition headed by Andrews, a paleontologist and head of Natural History Museum of USA, did unique discovery in paleontology science finding plenty of dinosaur fossils and ancient animals here. That was sensation of throughout the world. In the evening, we excurse in the surrounding area.

Day 8
Today we drive to Eagle Valley in Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National park where we make our tented camp. Gobi Gurvan Saikhan is part of the Altai Mountains, stretching from the northwest corner of Mongolia. This valley is nestled deep within the hills and is a haven from the desert heat. Some areas of the valley are continually sheltered from the hot sun and house huge, blocks of ice that gradually melt away during the summer. This is the area perfect for hiking and if you are lucky enough you might spot ibex and wild sheep grazing high on the rocky walls of the mountains. We have short excursion in the Eagle Valley to explore and observe the birds. After that, we drive for 25 km to reach to canyon of Dungenee where we make our tented camp. We have excursion at this place.

Day 9
Today we continue our driving to Tost mountain rangeBogd Mountain where we make our tented camp.

Day 10-12
These days, we make research of observing snow leopard by walking and on horseback. For this research, leader of expedition organize training to give instruction how to conduct research of snow Leopard. Snow leopard is an internationally endangered animal that is registered in the World’s and Mongolian Red Book and Legal Acts of Conservation of internationally endangered animals.

Day 13
Today we start our trip backward and reach to Khongor Sand dune where we stay in “Gobiin Anar” ger camp. After some refreshment at the ger camp, we have short excursion to get introduced with its nature. Khongor sand dune stretches for 180 km from northern west to south east. Width of the sand dune is 3-15 km and 100-300 m in height. In the north edge of the sand dune, there is oasis called Seruun Bulag. In the late afternoon, we visit to nomadic family to experience with the nomadic lifestyle and their custom and culture

Day 14
Today we continue our driving to near Dalanzadgad, town of South Gobi province.

Day 15
This morning, we take flight to Ulaanbaatar. After arriving in Ulaanbaatar, you are transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, we visit to National History Museum of Mongolia and Zaisan Hill to see city panorama. Our evening program is a traditional Mongolian concert followed by a farewell dinner at a local restaurant and overnight at the hotel.
Day 16
Transfer for international departure.
